Dominican Republic 2022

 

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”

Dear family and friends,

Last year Joshua and I had the opportunity and blessing to go and serve in the Dominican Republic at Holt’s House (holtshouseofhope.com) with fellow missionaries Joie (Puckett) & Fernando Cuevas, in Boca Chica. While there the Holy Spirit taught us both so many things. For instance, in Boca Chica there are many empty pieces of land with brick walls that speak of ownership. The Holy Spirit said to me that these represents empty hearts that need Jesus. Like in any town there are areas that are rough and “decorated” with lots of graffiti and such. The Holy Spirit gave me new “glasses” to see better…to see beyond the rough areas and just love people where they are with no judgements and to see the graffiti as art, a way that people express themselves when they have no words to speak. Joshua learned that with Jesus there are no language barriers that love speaks for itself. He learned the true meaning of J-O-Y…Jesus Others and You. While there others didn’t see his challenges (Autism, anxiety, sensory issues etc.) they saw him for who he was and loved him big. He got out of his comfort zone in another culture and fell in love with the people and the country and is so excited about returning. This year he is being challenged and will be leading a devotional for the kids with an interpreter. God is so good!! What we thought was impossible God made possible. Just like the mustard seed if we have faith as little as a mustard seed God can make mountains move. This year our family

has an opportunity to go and minister together. Tim and I heart’s desire has been to be able to go overseas and minister, but due to children on the autism spectrum and the many challenges that come with it, we thought that would never be a possibility. BUT GOD! What we thought so long ago was impossible, God is making possible.

We need your help! Would you be willing to commit to pray and/or give financially toward our family’s support? The cost of our trip is $1500 per person. This includes our lodgings, food, and air fare. We will need $9000 for our family to go. We are doing fundraisers and support letters in order to raise the money needed to go. Would you be willing to help us? I love ministering with my family and seeing the Holy Spirit move in their lives. Going to another country will open new fields of ministry that they have never experienced before, and I would love to be able to be there to watch them as God shows up and shows out for them. My mother’s prayer for my children has always been for Him to use them for His glory far more than what He has done with Tim and me. Would you be willing to help this momma be able to see and experience the Holy Spirit working in and through my children in such a different and profound way as an overseas Mission’s trip?

Rescheduled Mission Trip

 

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I send me!”

Isaiah 6:8

 

“BUT GOD!”

Dear friends and family,

One of my hearts desires has been to go and minister overseas. Due to   some of our kids being on the autism spectrum that desire seemed an impossibility. “BUT GOD!” Joshua is my 20 years old Jesus loving blessing who is on the autism spectrum. We have the opportunity to go to the Dominican Republic with a team and serve along side fellow missionaries Joie (Puckett) and Fernando Cuevas. When we first heard about the mission’s trip Joshua came to us and said he felt that God had laid it on his heart to go and help Joie and Fernando. God had laid it on my heart to go as well. “BUT GOD!” That desire of long-ago God is bringing to fruition. The icing on the cake is I will be ministering with my son, whom I thought would never be able to go overseas. “BUT GOD!” We will be going with a group that understands Joshua and his challenges and are excited for him to go and are willing to help look out for him, including Fernando and Joie. “BUT GOD!”

Our trip is planned for June 25 – July 2nd of 2021. We will be serving at Holt’s House of Hope in Boca Chica. Our team will have the opportunity to help with Zo!e Ministries (holtshouseofhope.com) and work alongside Joie & Fernando Cuevas. We will be teaching, assisting the local residents by doing community service work, and serving in the local orphanage. We will work with the girls and boys of Holt’s House and do community outreach in the area. Our mission is simple, we intend to make Jesus known and to love on the people there. Joshua has a big desire to lead someone to Jesus and also to find God’s purposes for his life. Joshua knows that he is called but doesn’t know quite yet what that looks like. He is searching and the fact that he is praying to lead someone to Christ on this mission’s trip does this momma proud. Will you please partner with us in prayer or by giving a one-time donation to help with the desires of his heart? Our team has done multiple fundraisers and Joshua and I are $1500 (covers both of us) short of our goal. We have the desire to see lives changed for His glory and this includes lives of fellow team members as well. Please be in prayer for our team, our safety, individual callings, unity, humbleness, and provision. Pray for those who we will encounter along the way and for the people of the Dominican. Ultimately pray that the work we do will bring Jesus’ glory, it’s His work not ours. Pray that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are glorified and the kingdom advanced.

But God!!


Dear Friends and Family,



One of my heart’s desires has been to go and minister overseas. Due to some of our kids being on the autism spectrum that desire seemed an impossibility. But God! Joshua is my 19 years old Jesus loving blessing who is on the Autism spectrum. Our church has the opportunity to serve in the Dominican Republic alongside fellow missionaries Fernando and Joie (Puckett) Cuevas. When it was first mentioned Joshua came to us and said he felt the Lord was telling him to go and help Fernando and Joie. God had laid it on my heart to go as well. But God! That desire of long-ago God is bringing to fruition. The icing on the cake is I will be ministering with my son, whom I thought would never be able to go overseas. But God! We will be going with a group that understands Joshua (and sometimes his autism challenges), are excited for him to go and are willing to help look out for him, including Fernando and Joie. But God!



Our trip is planned for June 23 – 30th of 2020. We will be serving at Holt’s House of Hope in Boca Chica. Our team will have the opportunity to help with Zo!e Ministries and work along side Fernando and Joie Cuevas. We will assist the local residents by doing community service work and by serving in the

local orphanage. We will work with the boys and girls at Holt’s House and do community outreach in the area. Our mission is simple, we intend to make Jesus known and to love on the people there.



Our team has been doing multiple fundraisers to offset the cost of the trip. The total cost for both Joshua and I to go is $3000 dollars ($1500 per person). This includes air fare, food and housing. Would you be willing to help us get to the Dominican by giving a one-time donation? Most importantly would you be willing to start praying for us that lives will be changed for His glory? Pray for our team, our safety, and our individual callings. Pray for the people of the Dominican Republic – and those along the way - that we will encounter, and for the financial means necessary for our team to reach our destination.  Ultimately, pray that the work done there is not ours but His; that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are glorified through it and the Kingdom is advanced.

You know it is funny how fast times goes by. I haven't posted in quite a while....life has happened with so many blessings, joys, sadness and heartbreak. More kids, kids leaving home, new home, parents died, ministry changes and me going back to school to finish what I started years ago. God is so good and faithful...It amazes me just what a good father He is. I don't deserve His faithfulness, or His goodness but He does anyway...and I'm so thankful.

Jacob and Heaven




I just wanted to share how good and faithful our God is....I pray for my boys that God would use them for His glory and that they would be men after God's own heart. When you have two children who are on the autism spectrum some times it is hard to know if they really understand about Jesus...and if they get the basics then we are doing good. God really showed me that He is listening to the prayers of this mommy's heart...and that He is using them for His glory. I was away on a women's retreat called the Emmaus walk this last weekend so Tim and the boys were batching (?) it. Tim was in the kitchen making pizza and our  Asperger's autistic 6 yrs old Jacob was helping him. Jacob asked Tim if there would be pizza in Heaven. Tim replied "I don't know Jacob but if there is it will be delicious!" Jacob: "Well I think there will be pizza and chocolate pudding...and John Allen (older brother who is allergic to chocolate) will be able to eat the chocolate pudding and he will have two eyes!! I will have balance because I have problems with my balance you know!!" To those of you that don't know...my oldest son John Allen only has one eye and for our Jacob to be able to understand the perfectness of Heaven astounded Tim and I!! How faithful is our God to reassure parents who are faithful to pray for their children. I want to encourage parents with special needs kids...parents who don't or do pray for their children...God honors those prayers and be encouraged to pray for your children daily. In our world today they need the protection of loving PRAYING parents who will commit them to the Lord on a daily basis. God does answer prayer...look how he answered ours!!

Hi everyone! This is Tim. Usually Sarah writes our newsletters and does a wonderful job. This newsletter is going to be a little different in that both Sarah and I are going to be sharing what’s going on with our ministry here at Good News Mission. That’s one of the reasons why there has been so much time between newsletters. Sarah had her portion written a couple of months ago but I have been my usual procrastinating self. Please forgive me. Anyway, Sarah’s portions will be in regular print while mine will be in italics. Thanks for all of your friendship, prayers and support. Tim

Changes!!! Change can be good and it also can be very challenging causing us to be stretched in ways that are out of our comfort zones. Back in March change came in the form of some of my ladies being arrested for selling prescription drugs. With bad choices came time spent in jail and having to move out of the projects. It would have been so easy to judge them  but I was reminded that I make bad choices as well… only mine were not on display and very public.

As I was praying for my ladies God impressed upon me that He wanted me to go to visit them in jail and tell them He loved them. My first response was “You want me to do what?” Then I asked God “There has got to be more that you want me to tell them besides that You love them...a more profound message than that You love them?” With fear and anxiety I went to visit them in jail. How precious it was to sit and talk with each of them. The first thing they said was I can’t believe you came! They told me how embarrassed they were for me to see them that way. I told them that I loved them but that God wanted me to come and tell them that HE loved them as well. Tears flowed and they asked how could He love them after what they had done? I told them because that is just who God is….and we all make mistakes but God loves us despite those bad choices. We still have to pay the consequences of our actions but God LOVES us.

Little did I know that would be the last time I would see one of my ladies as she passed away a week later in jail. One important lesson that I have learned through this is that when God gives you a burden for someone and a message to deliver there needs to be instant obedience. I had the words of life and hope and my lady needed those so badly….I am so thankful that I was able to minister to her in this way before she died…..God was so good and faithful in allowing me the honor and privilege of reassuring her of His love for her.  God wants us to be His hands, feet, and words… the question is are we willing to be used of God to go out and be Jesus to a hurting world? I love Mercy Me’s song “Won’t you be my love?” one of the lines in that song is won’t you be MY voice calling, won’t you be MY hands healing, won’t you be MY feet walking into a broken world….won’t you be MY chain breaker….won’t you be MY peace maker…..won’t you be MY hope and joy….won’t you be MY love? In other words will we be HIS love and lead people to His cross? By going to the jail I was being His love and leading those ladies to His cross…what a beautiful picture of God’s grace and love and what a blessing to be able to be HIS love to them.

This year has been full of changes for me as well - especially the summer.  Before the summer began I had my schedule all laid out. We were going to hold three day camps here at the mission, help with two out of state VBS’s and take John Allen to a big air rifle competition in Arkansas. I thought we could handle it easily. After all, for 20 years we held six or more weeks of camp at the camp ministry we worked with. Five weeks of ministry and a week of air rifle competition in the months of June and July should be easy! There were still two weeks to rest or even to fill with more activity. No problem!

Then Sarah’s sister was diagnosed with a brain tumor.  Thankfully it was not malignant, but the doctors still recommended that it come our right away. Still I thought we could handle it. Sarah didn’t need to be here for everything. Mrs. Lass (our dear friend and fellow missionary from GA) would be here. We could handle it! Sarah, though, cringed at the thought of such a busy summer. She said she was worn out just thinking about it.

It wasn’t until our pastor sat down to lunch with us one day, looked me in the eye (he’s good at doing thatJ) and said “Tim, have you really prayed about this?” UGH! What a slap in the face of reality! No, I hadn’t prayed about it. So, after much prayer and fasting by Sarah and me… I began to realize that our summer was just a bit full. We both agreed that the day camps were a must. Too many kids were depending on them. The VBS’s were another thing. Reluctantly I canceled one and by God’s grace the other fell through.

As always, God knows best! Sarah’s sister had surgery in June and, although she came through the surgery wonderfully, the recovery was a bit more than expected. It was just too much for Sarah’s mom to take care of Granny and Sarah’s sister so Sarah ended up spending nearly four weeks in Oak Ridge helping out.

Still, through all of the confusion of the summer, God still blessed. I had been praying for open doors in some apartments called “the double deckers” that are close to us. They are low income apartments but not run by the state as the apartments are across the street from our house. Many of our children had to move away because of the drug bust that Sarah mentioned above. In the government run low income housing if you are convicted of a felony you have to move out. On our first day of day camp it appeared that our numbers would be very low. Although we don’t try to base our ministry on numbers, it was still disheartening to me. After voicing my disappointment to John Allen he said, “Dad, I know that God is going to bring more kids. I’ve been praying that he would.” Lo and behold, soon after that an old black suburban pulls up to the mission and out pile 15 kids from , yes, the double deckers. God had opened doors and brought new kids to the mission! He also opened doors for me to help out at a local VBS for one week as well to replace one of the out of state VBS’s that I had to cancel. All in all 3 children were saved this summer and one child received assurance of salvation from the ministries that we were involved with. Praise the Lord!

Now back to Sarah and a little update on our family.

In the last few months we were having behavioral problems with our youngest son Jacob. With much prayer and talking with our doctors we opted to put him on medication to help with concentration and focusing. What a huge difference this has made with him. He is now able to sit through children’s church and pay attention and participate by answering questions and singing. God is so good and faithful!!!

 John Allen is doing very well and getting more insistent that Tim and I teach him how to drive. This is such a change in our lives as parents and we are having a hard time with this. It seems just like yesterday he was a baby in my arms and here he is now 16 yrs. old and wanting to drive. Where is the time going? God is shaping John Allen into such a neat young man. He is such a blessing and is growing up to be a young man who has a desire to see his friends come to know Jesus. This touches a mother’s heart whose prayer for all of her children is that God would use her sons for His glory.

Joshua is excited about upward football and getting ready for when that will start. This year we also signed Jacob up…this will be different and should be very entertaining….LOL… adults.

This next month we are praying about attending BCM’s week long North American Missionary Conference in Pennsylvania to touch base with fellow missionaries and see and share what God is doing in different parts of the world. This is always a fun, relaxing and informative time for our family. The boys, especially, enjoy catching up on old friends. The children’s and youth ministry workers that BCM brings in are wonderful. The boys love them and learn so much.  We also plan to take time to visit my sister in New Jersey for a few days.

Unfortunately, although it is a wonderful and relaxing time, it is usually a financial crunch for us to be able to afford the trip. The price to attend is only $500, and that includes meals and housing and all meetings, but it is still $500 extra (not including gas) that we must come up with. Please be in prayer that God would provide extra for us next month to be able to afford to attend. This conference is only scheduled every other year so if we missed this one, we would have to wait another two years to attend. How Great is our God????

We would like to thank everyone who donated, volunteered, cooked, delivered etc. for Good News Mission Holiday Meal this past weekend. Our God is so GREAT!!! With your help we were able to minister/feed over 400 individuals!! How Great is our God??? He is so great that He was able to make such a tremendous feat possible...and in the process bless me and others!! Our God is so good and faithful and I am blessed to be able to be an instrument for His glory!! Thank you again for all who participated and who pray for this special ministry that God has called us to....we are blessed!!!

Tinkel December 2011 Newsletter

3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

Dear Friends and family,

It is so hard to believe that another year has come and gone….where is the time going? Around our house we have been very busy with family, homeschool, ministry, church etc. God is and has been so good and faithful! He has blessed us with wonderful prayer and financial partners, a wonderful church, great Bible Studies, great friends, awesome family etc.

Our boys have been doing very well. John Allen is a 6’ 1 fifteen year old young man who is starting to ask if we would teach him how to drive!! We are SO not ready for this!! LOL!! On a serious note we are concerned about teaching him to drive and him being blind in one eye. We knew this day was coming…but time has gone by so fast that it is now here and we are a little bit jittery about this new phase in his life and in ours. Please pray with us that God would give us wisdom and discernment in this new season. This month our middle son Joshua turned 11 yrs. old! Again time is flying by way too fast for my liking. It just seems like yesterday I was holding him in my arms and now he is a tall inquisitive young man who loves Jesus. Jacob, our blue eyed boy who thinks he can do anything that his big brothers do, is growing like a weed. Pray for us this month concerning Jacob. Three months ago the eye doctor found a freckle in his eye. Because of our history with eye cancer for the next year we will be going every three months for the doctor to take measurements just to make sure that it is not growing. The doctor doesn’t think anything will come of it but it does bring back memories of another time with John Allen.

Tim and I are staying busy with the Mission. One of my ladies went into preterm labor in November and had to have an emergency C section. Little Chioz Jean weighing in at 3 lbs. 13 oz. is our newest member at Good News Mission. I love this part of ministry…being able to hold the babies and counsel young mothers on good and Godly parenting skills. We have started our Bible Clubs and are averaging about 12-18 children and adults. Here lately God has laid it on my heart that the people need to know the heart of Jesus. We have been learning how to pray for each other and learning how God loves our praise and how He loves to hear from us…and for us to listen to Him. They are learning to recognize His voice and most importantly of all learning Truth!!!

On December 17th from 12:00 – 2:00 PM we will be having our annual Holiday Meal at the Mission. (We call it our Holiday Meal because it is in between Thanksgiving and Christmas.) Last year we were able to feed 250 individuals. The majority of this was take-outs to the shut-ins. This is one of the bigger events of ministry that the Mission does during the year. Pray for the volunteers and for the hearts of the people to whom we will be serving. This is such a wonderful ministering opportunity for my ladies who help deliver and serve. They look so forward every year to being able to be a part of what the Mission is all about…being Jesus’ hands, feet and voice. If you would like to help in some way….PLEASE let me know. We would be so blessed and honored for your help!!!

To whom it may concern,
Good News Mission in Livingston, TN will be having their annual Holiday Meal on December 17, 2011 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM. Last year, with the help of local businesses and churches, we were able to feed 250 individuals throughout Overton County. We are asking for help again this year in order to feed even more. Would your church or organization be willing to be a part of feeding the local hungry? We have found over the years that this outreach is the only “good” meal that some of the locals will have for either Thanksgiving or Christmas. Please, any help would be greatly appreciated whether big or small. Listed below is the menu along with items we use for “goodie bags” to pass out to the children who attend. If you are able to help with any of the below it would be a tremendous blessing.

Tinkel 2011 summer ministry newsletter

When we walk with the Lord in the light of His word what a glory He sheds on our way...when we do His good will He abides with us still and with all who will trust and obey...trust and obey for theres no other way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey.


What a summer it has been. In June we started our day camps at the Mission. I prayed for 40 children and adults and we averaged about 32!! God did amazing things this summer! He brought back families who had not been here in a while and one of John Allen's friends accepted Christ as his Savior. Please pray for him as he is struggling right now with things that are going on at home...Satan is already attacking. This year we had some teen aged volunteers who got to experience what ministry is like here at the Mission. They were such blessings and were such a great help. My ladies loved them and were impressed by the patience and love they had for the children...especially the very young ones. My prayer for these young teen aged volunteers is that God would bless them in their future endeavors in serving Him. They had such sweet hearts. You don't see to many young teenagers giving up their summer to volunteer their time being in charge of games, listening and teaching verses to at times, very rambunctious children. They were such a light of Jesus to children who are hurting and just needing someone to take the time to love them. The Bible lessons that Tim taught this summer were from our Mission  BCM's (Bible Centered Ministries) God Gives us Victory. It talks about the Giants that we face as children of God such as Fear, Unbelief, Disobedience, Discouragement, Revenge, Pride, My Own Way, Self, Selfishness just to name a few. The kids soaked it up!! One Sunday Tim did a review and had the kids tell the adults about the different giants that they had studied about over the summer. With little prompting they were able to quote the corresponding verse that went with each story/giant!! I was very impressed as were the adults. When it came to singing songs there were two that the kids really loved. They were Faith is Just Believing and Trust and obey. I cried while the kids were singing...to hear their sweet voices raised to God and knowing what they are going home to blessed me so much. Its funny because I was wondering "God are they getting it." Is the getting up early in the morning, buying stuff out of our own pocket and not sure if we will get reimbursed because of lack of donations coming in, is it really worth it? God showed me in a very humbling way that yes this is where I need you to be....stay faithful and keep your eyes on the prize. It has been a very good summer of blessings and growth. On July 22nd our oldest turned 15!! Where did the time go?? Just yesterday he was a baby in my arms and now he is growing into a very neat young man. He has been such a sweet blessing to me and his dad. The love that he has for his brothers and the concern that he is getting for his friends and others to know Jesus is so precious to me. When John Allen was born Tim and I prayed over him...that God would use him for His glory and that he would become a mighty man of faith. My prayer for all of our boys is that God would use each of them for His glory and that God would give Tim and I the wisdom and discernment to raise them to love, obey, serve and worship God with all their heart soul and  mind. There have been a lot of bumps along the way but to see the fruit when you least expect it has been precious.

Dedicated

Dedicated:  wholly committed to something, as to an ideal, political cause, or personal goal.
 
set apart or reserved for a specific use or purpose.
 
Over the last few weeks I have come to understand the meaning of dedicated in a whole different way. I have seen a young woman who stood strongly by her husband when he was diagnosed with cancer the week before Christmas and loved and helped him when hospice was called in a few weeks ago. I have seen her give him strong medicines when the pain got so bad that he could hardly stand it. I have seen this woman continue being a great mom to her 1 and 2 1/2 year old little boys and reassuring them that daddy loved them and that soon daddy would be going away. I have seen this woman be strong in front of her husband when the news wasn't good just so that he would continue to fight the cancer that was slowly day by day taking his life. This same woman has a mother who also is a woman among women. What mother in law would put her life on hold to help her daughter and son in law by moving in with them to help with his care and help take care of the grand children. I have seen this mother humble herself to take her son in law to the bathroom and help clean him when he needed it. This same mom made sure that her son in law knew that his boys loved him and she made sure that the grand kids kissed and hugged daddy everyday. Even when it came to the end she was there to tell him that everything would be OK that his wife and kids would be taken care of and that it was OK to go on to be with Jesus. Over the last few weeks I have kind of put my family on the back burner in order to be there for this family to minister to them and help in anyway that I could in order to alleviate some of the day to day burdens. In the end I was blessed beyond measure at the dedication of these two special women that God in His infinite wisdom has placed in my life, in my little flock that He has given to me. I have seen lived out in front of me DEDICATION....what a precious definition my two ladies have given this word. On Saturday these two women along with other family and friends will say good bye to their loved one. I ask that you please pray for them that God would continue to show himself in big and small ways and that His presence would be felt in the days, weeks and months to come.

Sadness

This last week has been such a sad time for our little community in Livingston. On Wednesday evening we received word that 5 youth from a local church youth group had been involved in a terrible accident. In a blink of an eye 5 families lives have changed forever. Over the years we have had each of these youth in some part of our ministries...VBS, RAs, camp, church activities etc. Two of the youth didn't make it. As I was praying for the survivors and all the families involved I was thinking about their relationship with the Lord and the possible impact that Tim and I may have had on them and their families. Did Tim and I reflect Jesus and were we Jesus TO them? Two separate thoughts.....one you live out and the other involves personal interaction. As I attended the viewing of the young man they had pictures of his life from birth to the present on a big screen. He was 18 years old and I was thinking 18 years is such a short time and not enough pictures to show the pride and love that was so evident. His parents are such sweet precious people and such testimonies of Jesus and His love. My heart breaks as next week I will be going to another viewing of a young beautiful lady whose life was cut short. This tragedy has been a wake up call as to ministering opportunities that could easily be missed if we are not in tune with the Holy Spirit's leading. Some of the family members of these youth are not believers....I am asking that you please be in prayer for these families that God would bring beauty from the ashes and that He would do a great and mighty work in each family member's life. That He would bring about physical and emotional healing of those who survived. Our God is a great, loving and mighty God and He WILL do this.

February/March 2011 Tinkel Newsletter

Greetings in Jesus,
Tim and I just want to praise God for each of you. You have been such a sweet blessing to our family and we don’t thank you enough for all the prayers, encouragement, support etc. that you show to us. In my Bible Study I have been studying Acts and Paul’s missionary Journeys. All throughout the scriptures the churches love on Paul; they pray for, encourage and support him in his missionary endeavors. Paul is so thankful and touched by the churches in their love for him and their desire to be a part of his ministry. We are touched and honored to be blessed by the love you show us and for your desire to be a part of our ministry. May God bless you in your giving, in your love, prayers and encouragement. We are blessed!!!
The month of February has been a month of praise, LOVE and goodbye. On Valentine’s Day Tim’s mother went to be with the Lord. Even though you know the end is coming you are still not ready when it does come. Our kids took it so well. We have been praying for Mom Mom, as the kids called her, over the last few months. When we told John Allen, his response was “Mom Mom is telling Pop Pop it is her turn to hold Peter now.”  (Peter was our stillborn son) and Joshua’s response was “Mom she is holding Peter and she is with Pop Pop, Jesus, Abraham Lincoln and Benjamin Franklin.” LOL…Can you tell what he has been studying in homeschool?  Tim has been having a hard time. It has hit us that the only parental unit we have left is my mother. Tim’s mother was cremated and we will have a grave side service sometime this summer when the ground in Indiana is not frozen. We were going to get away for a little while until I got a call from my mother saying that the doctor was putting her in the hospital due to heart problems. We are here in Oak Ridge, TN helping my mother and grandmother. We thought that Mom was going to have a pacemaker put in but the doctor has opted to try a drug regiment first. She has been in here almost a week and we are still sitting here. God is in control and we praise Him for good doctors and such caring nurses. I also praise God for such a Godly mother in law who was such a blessing to me. The love she had for her husband, children, grandchildren but most importantly the love she had for Jesus have been such a testimony to so many. Even when dementia set in she could still quote scripture. When she didn’t remember her children she knew Jesus and talked to him daily. When she passed away hymns were being played by her bedside. What a way to go Home with hymns of praise to escort you. I have been so blessed by this special woman and she will be missed.
Please pray for Tim as he adjust to a different phase in life one without his parents. Pray for mother that the doctors will get mom back on the road to recovery. Pray for our kids, our ministries and especially our support. God is so good and faithful. Thank you once again for your faithfulness but especially for your love. It has meant so much to us and you are greatly appreciated. In the next couple of weeks I will be sending out a more informative newsletter about our ministries and what God is doing. We love you and pray God’s blessings over you.

Greetings in Jesus,
Praying that this finds you being blessed and having a great day!! The Tinkels have been doing pretty good. It is hard to believe that another year is almost gone. When I think back over this past year I am amazed at all God has done for us and how big He has shown himself. It has been a great year of ministry. Our numbers have increased with new families and the spiritual growth of my ladies has blessed me in their understanding of who God is in their lives. This past weekend we had our Holiday Meal in which we served 210-230 individuals! When we delivered food to the shut ins the look on their faces made our day. We were so blessed to be able to be Jesus’ hands, feet and words. One of my ladies, who helped delivered the food, kept saying what a good time she was having and how she loved seeing the look on the people’s faces.  We want to say a special thank you to all of those who helped, donated, gave etc. toward our Holiday Meal. God blessed it and He especially blessed Tim, me and my ladies. Thank you for co laboring with us in this endeavor. You reap the blessings as much as we do.
We have had a lot of health issues with Jacob over the last few months. We found out that he has a type of bone degeneration on the bone that fits into his hip socket and that one leg is longer than other (come to find out all three boys have one leg that is longer than the other). This is what is causing him to be in so much pain, especially at night.  We were supposed to go to Vanderbilt to see the orthopedic on the 14th but a major snow storm came and we had to cancel. Our new appointment is 1/25/11. Please be in prayer with us that we can find out what needs to be done with Jacob to alleviate the pain that he is in. Pray that we can get in sooner to see the doctor and get something done quickly. John Allen and Joshua are getting excited about the new year of competitive BB gun shooting that will start in January. Tim and I are busy home schooling, Bible studies, running the Mission and taking kids to therapies. God is so good and faithful and we praise Him for allowing us to serve Him where He has placed us. We are greatly and richly blessed at what God is doing in our lives and the part you have in it.
 Please be in prayer for our extended families. Tim’s mom has had some major health issues and at one point we thought we were going to have to take an emergency trip to New Jersey. She is doing better now and we pray that within the next month or two we will be able to go and visit with her. My mom has been in the hospital twice in the last month due to heart issues. I have had to make trips to Oak Ridge, TN in order to help her and my grandmother, who she takes care of. My sister and niece in the last year have gone through some major life changes that have been very difficult for both of them. With Tim and I being the “spiritual leaders” in our families, when things fall apart or go wrong, we are the ones that everyone calls. Not only do we have our ministries here in Livingston but our families are our ministries as well. We at times get overwhelmed and tired with so many pulling us in different directions but God has blessed our obedience and our faithfulness.
Please be in prayer for our support. Over the last year we have lost some supporters. We have also gained a few, but not enough to fill in the gap. Pray that God would raise up a remnant of faithful financial and prayer supporters in addition to the ones that He has already provided. We are in need of an extra $400+ a month. Cancer

Over the Thanksgiving hoiliday I learned that a friend of mine from High School was diagnosed with cancer. My heart broke and it brought back memories of when my first born at 15 months of age was diagnosed with retinoblastoma, a rare eye cancer. The fear, the panic and the helplessness of knowing that there was absolutely nothing I could do to fix it...that it was beyond and out of my control still haunt me today. The lessons I learned I will never forget...the special quaility time spent with my "Poppa" God... precious. I have learned over the years that our circumstances can make us or break us and I try to choose for them to make me more into the image of Jesus. I am asking that whoever reads this post to please pray for my precious friend, Amy. There is not a day that goes by that I don't pray for her and think back to my experience with cancer and how good God was in sending people my way to be His hands, feet and voice. The prayers that went up over all the world on our behalf...I am asking for the same for my friend. God is good and faithful and He has promised to be with her and her family through this valley. He is getting ready to do something big in her life...please pray for strength and perserverance for her and her family and for wisdom and discernment for the doctors, nurses etc. who will be attending her. May God bless you for interceding for her.

"Why?"

Wow!! What a hectic past few weeks. As I sit here typing, my thoughts are all in a jumble at what God has allowed us to go through. From children's doctor's appointments to spiritual warfare on our ministry and family I stand in amazement of it all. How is it that when we are right where we are supposed to be (in the center of God's will) does He allow the firy darts of the evil one to catch us sometimes? After much crying and asking the question "Why?" God responded: "Why not you?" Just because we are children of God doesn't exempt us from being attacked from Satan, AND don't be surprised at who he uses. Sometimes it those that you have poured your heart, love and soul into. One of the things I have learned is that when we are attacked we need to be as close to the Master as possible....HE controls which arrows strike and even when they do strike He is there with us to help us through each circumstance. I am so loved by my Papa....my Daddy God...and I know that when those darts come He is waiting for me to say "Daddy take care of this for me." A lot of times those darts are allowed to see how much we have grown in our spiritual walk. Are we going to turn it over to Him, OR are we going to try to handle it? I have been so tired here lately and I am trying to the hardest of my ability to say and do: "Papa, here it is take it..." Through those difficult circumstances are the opportunities to grow in our walk, to show others WHO God really is, and for God to be glorified. I want God to be glorified so much in my life. I want my kids that when they get older and are attacked by the evil one to look back and say "You know when mom and dad went through a similar situation this is what they did and God did miraculous things through their sacrifice, standing firm and just being obedient to what God wanted them to do." This is what I want....to be a reflection/testimony of my Jesus. I will leave you with a few of my favorite verses. Remember God loves you and is always with us....in the good and the bad times.

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."
